Dry Bulk, Resources and Critical Minerals

Metals and Minerals

ARIA’s dry bulk team and mining platform combines decades of experience in managing portfolios of assets, and well as trading minerals and metals. Our operations include a growing presence in Africa, along with a number of mineral operations currently being explored in Australia. The trading team with extensive freight and derivatives capabilities has marketed dry bulk, whilst working at the world’s largest trading houses, to European utility companies, SE Asian power, steel and cement end users.

What We Do

In combining strengths in both industial and marketing businesses, our scale and asset based provides a diversified portfolio of commodities and products, which are fundamental to everyday lives.

We originate and market market a wide range of metals and minerals such as copper, cobalt, zinc, nickel and ferroalloys. Specifically, we have significant operations in aluminium/alumina and iron ore markets.

Aluminium / alumina

We process and sell products from a range of third-party aluminium and alumina producers. These products include bauxite, which is the world's main aluminium ore; alumina (an oxide derived from the processed ore); primary aluminium; and aluminium alloys.

Uses

Aluminium As a lightweight but strong metal, aluminium is widely used in cars, planes and trains, and in recyclable food packaging such as cans and foil. In construction, it is used in window and doorframes, roofs, facades and curtain walls-for example, in buildings such as skyscapers.

Iron Ore

The most common iron ores are hematite (Fe2O3) and magnetite (Fe3O4). Iron ore can be used as a source of iron for the manufacturing of various products, like chemicals, food, medicines and water treatment.

Iron

Iron is everywhere. This is no understatement; in fact, we use some elements of Iron that are not visible with our naked eyes. This metal is widely used to make home appliances Iron is an important element when it comes to the production of Ammonia, as well as making magnets.

Dry Bulk Operations

With over 11bn tonnes of seaborne trade in bulk commodities each year, freight is the very backbone of economic growth and global trade. Freight rates are notoriously volatile, habitually swinging several thousands of US Dollars during a given day.

The ability to control that exposure and optimise both physical and financial exposures is a critical component for any commodity trading and financing firm.

Within our dry bulk operating division, we seek to provide highly competitive logistics solutions and bridge the supply/demand imbalances where they appear.

Leveraging decades of freight experience, we are able to provide sustainable dry bulk shipping services, employing cutting edge technologies and data driven insights.
